Expansion Update 6Expansion Update 6

Wow, we are in Phase Three of our expansion! This is the last phase, which means we only have 6 weeks to go. We have vacated the old treatment/ICU area, and you might have noticed that for 12 hours the entire roof was removed (thank goodness it did not rain!). Don’t worry, our patients and the building were very well secured all night, and our overnight nurse was here caring for our patients.

We are now occupying our new surgery and dental suites, and they are fantastic! We are so pleased with the vision that Glazer Architecture had for our working space. Finally, there is room for all our equipment and there is even some new equipment. We are also using our new sunny dog ward and the patients love it! We have noticed that the patients seem so relaxed in the natural light and like the glass doors on the runs. Just as our patients love the natural light, we love working in it. Very soon we will have our TVs installed for the patients to watch special calming dog DVDs on as they await or recover from surgery or dental care.

In order for our wonderful construction crew from Beverly-Grant to remodel our old treatment room and lab, we have moved our lab and treatment room temporarily to what will be our new conference room. In addition, we have temporarily created a comfy and separate cat ward in the room that will eventually be our laser therapy room. Once construction is complete, our cats will have a great new ward designed specifically for cats with a sunroom play/rest area, videos designed for cats and condominiums with perches and individually thermostatically controlled floors. They will also have their very own quiet treatment room and their own ICU.  But for now, they're doing fine in their temporary lodgings. Our staff worked incredibly hard to get everything moved and organized, but it is done and we are functioning beautifully. Remember that we will have an Open House on July 14th. Mark your calendars!
