Please don’t believe the advertisements for online pharmacies that state that their prices are “so much lower than your veterinarians sells them for”!  That is not true at Animal Hospital of North Asheville!  Please always check our prices before ordering online because we may actually save you money!  We price the same as the major online pharmacy on many of our products, and in addition, some manufacturers offer rebates and free doses when you purchase through a veterinarian.  Keep in mind, too, that guarantees made on some...

It's hard to believe, but it's time to vote in the Mountain Xpress Best of WNC poll again! Voting is easier than it was last year, and you don't have to vote in multiple categories. You can choose to vote for one Asheville business (AHNA!) and skip the rest of the poll if you would like to. To make it even easier for you, we have a computer set up on our front desk so that you can vote in our lobby. If you need assistance, we're happy to help.

We were honored to win in the 'Best Veterinarian' category last year, and with your help, we can win again. Please vote now to make us #1!...

We are thrilled to announce that our online pet food drive was a success! Our goal was to raise 1,000 pounds of pet food for the Asheville Humane Society, Animal Compassion Network, and Brother Wolf Animal Rescue. With the help of our facebook fans and clients, we surpassed our goal and raised 1,032 pounds of food. We will actually donate 1,150 pounds of food, or more. Each shelter will receive at least 350 pounds of donated pet food. Thank you to everyone...

Animal Hospital of North Asheville is so proud to have eleven certified veterinary technicians on our staff, the newest of which is Robin Pierce. All of our veterinary technicians have studied and worked extremely hard to obtain their degrees. They are trained in anatomy, physiology, microbiology, anesthesiology, pharmacology - the list goes on and on. Not only do they have to attend classes for two years or more at a college or technical school and pass lots of courses, they have to pass an extremely intensive National Board test, and then they must pass a test given by the North Carolina...

Many people don't realize it, but just like people, dogs have specific blood types. There are dogs that have a universal blood type and in certain circumstances it is necessary to have these dogs donate fresh, whole blood. The Animal Hospital of North Asheville is currently looking for additional blood donors. Donors are used on an as-needed basis and would only donate approximately one time per year. There will be a selection process starting with the qualifications listed below.

  • Must be between the ages of 2 and 8.

Everyone at Animal Hospital of North Asheville wants you to understand the extreme importance of always being certain that your pet has a vaccination against rabies that is current. Rabies is a fatal disease for pets and people, and your pet can be exposed at any time by coming in contact with wildlife. We have had patients that were kept strictly indoors at their homes but were exposed by a bat coming into the house. One of our patients, a tiny Yorkie, was exposed when her mom opened the door for her to go out into their fenced yard and  a raccoon was right there, just outside the door....

The average length of employment for the staff at AHNA is over 10 years!  This means tremendous experience and skill for the care of your pet, and it also means that these people have been to a lot of our holiday parties over the years! Some were there for the very first one in 1978!
