We have a few requirements to help maintain a healthy and happy Preschool.

  • Puppies can attend preschool between the ages of 9-16 weeks old. We strive for all puppies to have a positive experience. Ages, temperaments, and veterinarian recommendations are considered in enrollment.

We are excited to welcome you to the Animal Hospital of North Asheville’s Puppy Preschool.

Puppy Preschool allows puppies to interact with other puppies during their critical socialization period (3-16 weeks of age). HNA Puppy Preschool is back in session after a two month break due to a Canine Influenza outbreak in Buncombe County.  We invite AHNA puppy parents and their puppies to join us for this free puppy socialization session. These fun-filled sessions are for puppy parents and puppies from 8-16 weeks of age.

This month we proudly celebrated the second anniversary of our AHNA Puppy Preschool. We were excited to welcome 107 puppies and their families to our preschool during the past year. Just like our puppies, we have grown, matured and expanded what we offer in class over the past two years. We feel fortunate to have had the best puppy families join us.

Socialization is a very important learning process through which puppies become accustomed to being around different types of people, animals, objects and environments. Puppies have a short window between 3-16 weeks of age when they are learning how to be a part of society and form opinions on what is scary and what is safe. In the wild, these opinions can be a key to survival.

Puppies and kittens arrive as adorable, new little family members that we are eager to show off, and it is exciting to purchase that new collar, ID tag, leash, litter box, bed, toys and the very best food. Soon you realize that BLAH training is necessary (Brushing teeth, Leash And House training).

For the past year, Thursday nights at Animal Hospital of North Asheville have been filled with the sounds of puppies, families, laughter, and play. Puppy Preschool has been the place to be. Over the past year, our Puppy Preschool has grown, changed and developed into a special place for puppies and their families to socialize and learn.
