AHNA Holds Matching Pet Food Drive

Animal Hospital of North Asheville is once again holding a Holiday Pet Food Drive!

We will match, up to 1,000 pounds, any pet food donated to our Holiday Pet Food Drive to benefit three wonderful local animal welfare organizations: Asheville Humane Society, Animal Compassion Network, and Brother Wolf Animal Rescue.  Please help make the holidays brighter for needy dogs and cats by dropping canned or dry food, blankets, pet toys and/or monetary donations off at Animal Hospital of North Asheville, and we will distribute the donations among the three organizations.

Animal Hospital of North Asheville is very grateful to have these wonderful organizations working so hard day in and day out to help needy dogs and cats, so we will buy and donate a pound of food for every pound donated before December 24th.

Food drives are just one way AHNA works to help needy dogs and cats through local animal welfare groups. Our wonderful clients and people in the community have been so supportive of our past food drives. Our last food drive was about six months ago and brought in 1,032 pounds of food! One outstanding example is that a couple from out of town were driving by, saw the sign about our food drive, and bought food and donated it! Even though we delivered a large amount to Asheville Humane, Animal Compassion Network and Brother Wolf, it was quickly devoured by hungry dogs and cats in our community. Please donate!! Help keep them warm and their tummies full! We will welcome any type of food or blankets!!

Please pass this information along to your friends. Help us to spread the word so that we can help as many homeless animals as possible - Thank You!

Please know how important this drive is to so many animals in need. In addition to feeding our own 100-plus foster pets, we supply free pet food to 9 food pantries and agencies so the people who rely on the food banks and welcome tables can get the food they desperately need for themselves and still be able to feed their pets. We have hundreds of examples of people who have only been able to keep their pets during a job loss or medical issue because of the free pet food they receive. Animal Compassion Network also donates pet food to people in Hospice and bedridden with AIDS, and we all know how important these pets are to the health and comfort of these patients. We have only been able to be so far-reaching in our Pet Food Assistance Program because of the Pet Food drives sponsored by Animal Hospital of North Asheville. When the donated food arrives at Pet Harmony and our food trailer goes from bare shelves to full again, it is such a joyful relief knowing how many hungry cats and dogs we're about to feed! ACN provides over 22,500 free pet food meals each year to the community, and we couldn't do it without you, AHNA, and to all of your clients and supporters who give so generously to this drive. And the fact that AHNA is matching the donations makes me speechless. A single small bag of donated food from a client may seem like an inconsequential gesture in the grand scheme of things, but it is not. It literally is often the difference between an animal eating or starving or keeping his or her home and being surrendered to a shelter. Thank you all for the great generosity and compassion you show pets in need every day. I am blessed to see the effects of your kindness and it is truly inspirational. Thank you!
