AHNA Staff Gives to Foster Children

Along with activities such as our Pet Food Drive which collects food and treats for needy pets, each year the staff at Animal Hospital of North Asheville sponsor several of Buncombe County's foster children at Christmas. Our Client Care Team Supervisor, Cathy, contacts Buncombe County Foster Care Association and gets the names, ages, sizes of each child and a list of things that the children need or want. Cathy puts all the items on cards and our staff members take the cards, buy gifts, and wrap them. This year Sheri, another member of our Client Care Team, volunteered to do much of the shopping and spent two of her days off finding the perfect gifts and wrapping them. Thank you, Sheri! It was quite a pile as you can see!

We take joy in knowing that these children will be delighted on Christmas morning. Please consider helping foster children during the holidays!

More information on the Buncombe County Foster Care Association:

The Buncombe County Foster Care Association works with the Department of Social Services in Buncombe, Madison, and Haywood County to meet the needs of the approximately 500 children in foster care. Foster parents receive a monthly stipend that covers the immediate needs of the children, but there is no funding for the many extras, such as Christmas. This us where the Association steps in.

The Association has been helping to meet the needs of these children by asking the community for sponsorship. For more information on the Buncombe County Foster Association and the Sponsorship Program, call Pat LaPier at 216-3852.
