Way to go! We are so proud of our Saturday Dog-Ed Training Class Graduates taught by Jenny White, CPDT-KA.
"Follow Me" Leash Walking Skills:
The series of classes called "Follow Me! Enjoy walks with your dog again" helped families by teaching techniques that enabled them to become proficient at loose leash walking with their dogs which is much more enjoyable for both the person and the dog. The classes also taught families how to achieve increased attention from their dog when distractions occur. This is a very important skill to learn because getting your dog’s attention in a distracting situation might even be lifesaving.
In this four week set of Saturday classes, the families not only learned positive handling techniques but also put them into practice as Jenny introduced increasing levels of distractions.
Concentration: Learning to focus despite distractions.
The families who participated in the two week Concentration Training Classes learned valuable skills on how to help their dogs achieve focus despite distractions. This is an especially valuable skill when lots of people are around or the pet is in a new environment. Jenny White, CPDT-KA of Dog-Ed taught techniques on how to shift the dog's attention from the distraction back to the family.
Congratulations! We are proud of your dedication to learning and providing positive experiences for your dog.
These Saturday training classes are different from the Free (People-only) Behavior Help sessions that we have here at Animal Hospital of North Asheville on specific weekday evenings. While the Free sessions require no registration, registration and payment is required for the Saturday classes that dogs attend along with a family member. Dogs and their people love these classes as they are fun and are taught using positive reinforcement.
