Gifts for Foster Children

Once again, the staff members of Animal Hospital of North Asheville have provided Christmas presents for several of Buncombe County's foster children. All of us here at Animal Hospital of North Asheville really enjoy being able to make the holidays brighter for these deserving children.

Each year, Cathy, our Client Care Team Supervisor, contacts Buncombe County Foster Care Association and gets the names, ages, and sizes of each child and a list of gifts that the children need or want. Cathy puts all the gift requests on cards and our staff members take the cards, buy gifts, and wrap them for the children. As you can see, there is quite a pile of gifts, and there are also three bikes! In addition to the gifts, there are gift cards so that two of the older foster children can choose uniform items at the Boy Scout Store.

Our staff gets a great deal of pleasure and fulfillment knowing that these children will have a happy Christmas morning. Please consider helping foster children during the holidays! Even if you do not have time to shop and wrap the presents as we do, you can make a monetary donation and they will buy what the children need for Christmas.

More information on the Buncombe County Foster Care Association:

The Buncombe County Foster Care Association works with the Department of Social Services in Buncombe, Madison, and Haywood County to meet the needs of the approximately 500 children in foster care. Foster parents receive a monthly stipend that covers the immediate needs of the children, but there is no funding for any extra expenses, such as Christmas. This is where the Association steps in.

The Association has been helping to meet the needs of these children by asking the community for sponsorship. You can sponsor a child by purchasing gifts that the child has requested, or you can donate money and the Association will purchase the gifts.
