Animal Hospital of North Asheville’s first Healthy Halloween Party was so much fun! This was a party to help our clients learn about low calorie healthy treats for their pets. Our veterinarians and staff were on hand with lots and lots of treats that had fewer than 10 calories each! Our main message was that pets enjoy the experience of getting a treat, but unlike us, they experience the same amount of happiness whether it is a big treat or a small one. So keep those treats low calorie and small! Keeping your pet fit and trim can add years of comfortable life to your pet. In addition, Dr. Thompson and Dr. Kiss were on hand to talk about ways to keep the teeth and gums healthy which also will add years of comfortable life to a pet’s life. Of course, other veterinarians and staff were present and giving tips to keep pets healthy.
We had a great turnout for the party. Many pets do not like to wear costumes, so of course we welcomed all pets whether they had on costumes or not! Our dear, dear cat patients tend to not even like parties at all, so we sent treats home for them. Costumes worn by many of our two and four legged friends are showcased in our Healthy Halloween photos. There was no better place to get a Halloween Family Photo than the Photo Corner. There are many future models in our midst! Foxy Lady, a little fashionable Chihuahua, even showed up with her own VIP dressing room.
We had three big winners of $150 AHNA Gift Certificates. The Online Raffle winner was Rose Harrison. The raffle winner for those who attended our Halloween party was Chris and David Risher along with their 3 Australian Shepherds dressed as Peter Pan, Tinkerbell and the Lost Boys. The Guess the Number of Treats winner was Gavin Reep. He guessed that the jar contained 953 treats, which was very close to the actual number of 944. Gavin has some happy pups at home since he won all the treats too! Congratulations again to all our winners.
