Feline and Canine Oral Health: What You Probably Did Not Know.

Tuesday, August 11th at 7:00 pm in the AHNA Education Room with Dr. Dave Thompson

Did you know that by 3 years of age:

  • 80% of Dogs have Periodontal Disease
  • 70% of Cats have Periodontal Disease

It is new thinking for many people, but proper dental care will keep your pet more comfortable, lengthen life and prevent bad breath. It is never too early or too late to start caring for your pet’s teeth! Come see live demonstrations and learn how to care for your pet’s teeth at home. We can help make it easy and fun!

Topics that will be covered:

  • learn what dental disease in dogs is
  • learn how cats are different than dogs in their dental care needs
  • learn about the unique feline oral diseases (peridontal disease, “ cat cavities” and stomatitis)
  • learn how dental disease affects the entire body
  • listen to a frank discussion about anesthesia
  • see what occurs with professional dental care
  • learn how new techniques can save teeth (avoid extractions)
  • tour a high tech dental suite
  • see a live demonstration of dogs having tooth brushing – the right way
  • see our recommended home care program – quick and inexpensive
  • have you questions answered

As much as we wish we could include your pet in this class, it is for humans only, so please leave all those sweet and wonderful pets at home.

Help Sessions are for people only, so please leave your pet at home. Our goal is to teach you what you need to know to help your pet. Help Sessions are free to the public on a first come, first seated basis. Please be aware that Animal Hospital of North Asheville will be seeing patients while the Help Session is in progress, so some of our parking will be reserved for the families of patients needing care. You may be directed to nearby parking that is available. Thank you for understanding.

In case of inclement weather, behavior help sessions will be cancelled. If you have any doubt whether the class will be held, check our Facebook page or call Animal Hospital of North Asheville at 828-253-3393.

How to Help Your Leash Reactive Dog

Tuesday, August 18th at 7:00 pm in the AHNA Education Room

Does your dog growl, bark, lunge, and just get all into a tizzy when he or she sees other dogs or people while on a leash? If so, this class is for you. At this free, people-only behavior help session, you will learn canine body language so that you can better know what to expect at each encounter. You will also learn what steps you can take to prevent your dog from going into this state of mind, and you will learn lots more!

This free Help Session is being presented by Tristan Rehner, MS, CPDT-KA of Pet Behavior Aid and is for people only.

The mission of Pet Behavior Aid, a non-profit organization, is to increase the retention of companion animals in their homes in Asheville and Western NC through education and training programs for people who have dogs or cats, animal shelter and rescue workers, and the general community.
