Many cats resist getting into their carriers, but it is possible (and important) to avoid this stress for your cat and for you. This free help session will provide positive methods to help train your cat to enjoy their carrier along with tips to help make traveling with your cat less stressful.

Turn routine hygiene maintenance into a spa day for your furry friend. This Free Behavioral Help Session will help you understand the normal behavioral and grooming needs of cats. Join us to learn ways to medicate your cat, how to introduce tooth brushing to your cat, tips on nail trimming along with simple and effective gentle handling techniques.

Whether your dog has specific fears or is generally timid, learn how to understand the signs of anxiety, how to prevent fear from becoming aggression, and some fundamental techniques to help your “wallflower” dog come out of his or her shell.

Help Prevent Your Cat’s Destructive Scratching

Come learn ways to help prevent your cat from destroying your furniture and carpets by scratching.  This Free Behavioral Help Session will help you understand the normal behavioral needs cats have for scratching and ways to meet those needs that are acceptable to both cats and people.  The behavioral pros and cons of declawing will be covered as well as some alternatives to declawing for people who are having trouble managing their cat’s destructive scratching.

Free Help Sessions are presented by Tristan Rehner- Fleurant, MS, CPDT-KA, CBCC-KA, CBATI of Pet Behavior Aid.

The mission of Pet Behavior Aid, a non-profit organization, is to increase the retention of companion animals in their homes in Asheville and Western NC through education and training programs for people who have dogs or cats, animal shelter and rescue workers, and the general community. A little about our Free Help Sessions:

Our goal is to teach you what you need to know to help your pet. As much as we wish we could include your pet in this class, it is for humans only, so please leave all those sweet and wonderful pets at home.

These Help Sessions are free to the public on a first come, first seated basis. Please be aware that Animal Hospital of North Asheville will be seeing patients while the Help Session is in progress, so some of our parking will be reserved for the families of patients needing care. Thank you for understanding.
