Did you know that by 3 years of age 80% of Dogs have Periodontal Disease and 70% of Cats have Periodontal Disease? Did you know periodontal disease is uncomfortable and can shorten your pet’s life? 

It is new thinking for many people, but proper dental care will keep your pet more comfortable, lengthen life and prevent bad breath. It is never too early or too late to start caring for your pet’s teeth! Come and learn why it is so important and what’s involved. See a live demonstration and get your questions answered. We can help make it easy and fun! 

You can also tour our high tech dental suite and see first-hand what your pet experiences when they are here for a professional dental cleaning. Dr. Thompson will explain exactly how anesthesia is administered and monitored. Learn how to tell if your pet needs professional dental care.

He will also explain what dental disease is, common problems you can be on the lookout for and how new dental techniques can often help avoid the need to extract a tooth.

Do you need some peace and quiet? Have neighbors ever complained or has animal control been at your door? Do you feel like you've tried everything and nothing has worked? This session is for you. Learn the different reasons that dogs may bark excessively, how to assess what is motivating your dog’s vocalization, and what training techniques will work best for your dog’s type of barking.

  • People Only, Free to attend, No registration required. Everyone Welcome!

Interested in joining a Dog-Ed dog training class? Would you like to develop a better understanding of your dog's behavior? Learn how to clearly communicate with them? Then join Dog-Ed for this free help session!

In this class you will discover how dogs learn, how provide appropriate outlets for natural behaviors to keep your dog behaviorally healthy, and prevent problem behaviors from developing. Learn how to read your dog's body language for clues that tell you if he is relaxed, stressed, threatened, or afraid. This class is open to the public. It is a must for any dog guardian or someone thinking about sharing their life with a dog and a requirement for joining many of the Dog-Ed training classes. These classes are for humans only, please leave your dogs at home. No registration required. If you plan on enrolling Training Games series you must be present for whole class.

 

A little about our Free Help Sessions:

Our goal is to teach you what you need to know to help your pet. As much as we wish we could include your pet in this class, it is for humans only, so please leave all those sweet and wonderful pets at home.

These Help Sessions are free to the public on a first come, first seated basis. Please be aware that Animal Hospital of North Asheville will be seeing patients while the Help Session is in progress, so some of our parking will be reserved for the families of patients needing care. Thank you for understanding.

Saturday Training Classes by Dog-Ed

Concentration: Learn How to Achieve Focus by Your Dog, Despite Distractions.

  • Saturdays: Dec. 9th and Dec. 16th 4:00PM-5:00PM
  • Location: Animal Hospital of North Asheville Education Room 
  • Taught by Jenny White, CPDT-KA of Dog-Ed

New environments, people, and other dogs can be challenging and stimulating for your dog. In this 2-week class, you will learn how to build focus and shift your dog's attention from distractions back to you. This SERIES also includes a 4-week class of coming when called (Red Rover), loose leash walking (Follow Me), stationary training (Red Light-Green Light) or polite greetings (Mother May I?) class. It is your choice! For a total of 6-week fun and skill building learning! This "Concentration" class is a pre-requisite for the other classes in the Training Games Series.

Requirements:

  • Current vaccinations for Canine Distemper, Canine Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, Parvo, Bordetella and Rabies for your dog.
  • Previous attendance at "Unleash the Possibilities". Visit Dog-ed.net or our Events Schedule at ahna.net to see the upcoming Unleash the Possibilities sessions)
  • Preregistration $100

*AHNA recommends for the protection of your pet, that all dogs attending a class with other dogs be vaccinated against both strains of Canine Influenza (H3N2 and H3N8).
