Public Meeting for North Asheville Dog Park

Dear Dog Park Friends,

I’m writing with an additional request for your participation in the public meeting our group will be co-hosting on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Jones School.

The meeting’s purpose is to solicit community input into the process and plans for the dog park. The feedback offered will become a part of the public record and thus, it is important for as many members of our group as possible to speak in support of the park.

Your statement can be as simple as giving your name and address and saying, I support the proposed dog park in North Asheville. We anticipate that many of the opponents’ concerns we’ve been hearing about will be aired – as they should be – but the final meeting record will be imbalanced if supporters don’t counter by endorsing the park.

The City is planning to send key managers to the meeting from Public Works, Parks & Recreation, Transportation, Community Relations, and Historic Resources, who will all be listening carefully to gauge the community’s support for the park. We have an important opportunity to share the enthusiasm displayed at our dog park meetings with this larger audience.

We suggest wearing your dog’s leash, like at the City Council meeting, to be easily identified as a supporter. We will have Friends of North Asheville Dog Park logos for you to pick up at the entrance to the meeting. Display them proudly!

Please plan to attend and speak up in support of the North Asheville dog park.

Thank you, as always, for your efforts on behalf of our dogs.
