Laser Therapy, Asheville Vet

Non-Invasive Pain Control

Cold laser therapy is a non-surgical, pain-free therapeutic treatment used to help heal inflammation and pain in cats and dogs. Your pet can receive this therapy along with other treatments.

Your pet may be a candidate for cold laser therapy if he or she has undergone surgery, sustained an injury, or suffers from a painful condition such as arthritis.

How Cold Laser Therapy Works

Cold lasers create a focused light that stimulates the tissue at and below the surface of your pet’s skin. This produces a biochemical effect that promotes cellular energy and regeneration. The result for your pet is tissue repair, better circulation and pain relief.

This treatment is used to treat a variety of diseases, injuries and conditions in cats and dogs. These include, but are not limited to, musculoskeletal injuries, soft tissue injuries (sprains and strains) and arthritis. Cold laser therapy is recommended in combination with other treatments

The Procedure

Your pet will be given a full physical examination, including x-rays if needed, before the procedure begins. The session will typically last between 5 and 20 minutes, and the laser wand is applied to the area that needs treatment.

Cold laser therapy has a cumulative effect, so it is likely that you'll be prescribed multiple treatment sessions. Your veterinarian will recommend the frequency of these appointments for best results.

The Benefits

Your cat or dog can see the following benefits after cold laser therapy treatments:

  • Reduction in pain and swelling
  • Faster healing process
  • Increased circulation
  • Decreased nerve sensitivity
  • No negative side effects
  • No requirement to sedate your cat or dog
  • No need to shave or clip the treatment area
