Lorraine joined AHNA in 2000 as a Veterinary Assistant. Not only does she attend to the care of our patients, Lorraine is our primary Patient Care Coordinator, serving as a vital link between clients and the veterinarians. She works with the dental team during the patient admittal and discharge process. Her love for animals and their families makes this job extremely special to her. Lorraine loves to care for our clients and patients in any way she can.
Lorraine has always enjoyed working with animals. By the time she was 15, she had already begun taking care of neighbor pets, grooming, dog-walking, and pet sitting. She began her career as a veterinary assistant in 1984. She got her first job in the veterinary field when the practice that her family pets went to was in need of an assistant, and she joined the AHNA team in 2000. She is a Fear Free certified Professional.
Her favorite part of being a veterinary assistant is working with all of our wonderful patients because it allows her to help them get well, out of pain, and back to a happy, normal life. She also enjoys helping our clients care for their pets. She says that seeing pets return home with their families after an illness, surgery, or dental procedure is a wonderful experience! She also thinks her co-workers are "the best" - the most caring and compassionate people you could ever meet who she looks forward to seeing each day.
When she isn't working, Lorraine likes gardening, going to yard sales, restoring old furniture, and doing fun things with her grandchildren. She also loves fish and maintains a lovely fish tank at home. Her greatest love is her family, both two-legged and four. Lorraine’s lucky dogs are a Golden Retriever named Hunter, a Labradoodle named Jax Ann and a Beagle named Phoebe. Her ideal day off includes coffee on her porch with her husband, playing ball with her dogs, and reading with her grandchildren.
