Congratulations to all of our recent graduates of the Saturday Training taught at Animal Hospital of North Asheville by Jenny White, CPDT-KA of Dog-Ed.
The families who brought their beloved dogs to the TTouch Training class that met on Saturdays for six weeks here at Animal Hospital of North Asheville, learned unique methods to help their dogs. TTouch is a powerful method to improve behavior, enhance performance and health and teach a dog to learn willingly. It helps establish a deeper rapport and more effective connection and understanding between humans and their pets.
During these classes, the attendees learned ways to help their dogs settle and focus while building confidence and cooperation which increased their dog's acceptance of handling and other necessary care. Each week they learned different bodywork techniques and explored new obstacles in the “Confidence Course”. Using these innovative techniques in daily life will improve each dog’s physical and mental well-being while deepening the family bond.
Follow Me! Enjoy walks with your dog again. (Leash Walking Skills)
The series of classes called "Follow Me! Enjoy walks with your dog again" helped families by teaching techniques that enabled them to become proficient at loose leash walking with their dogs which is much more enjoyable for both the person and the dog. The classes also taught families how to achieve increased attention from their dog when distractions occur. This is a very important skill to learn because getting your dog’s attention in a distracting situation might even be lifesaving.
In this four week set of Saturday classes, the families not only learned positive handling techniques but also put them into practice as Jenny introduced increasing levels of distractions.
Way to go everyone! We are proud of your dedication to learning and providing positive experiences for your dog. For more information about attending future training classes such as these, go to ahna.net, click on Resources, and then click on Classes and Help Sessions in the drop down menu.
